Technical difficulties…but here she is!

I am thrilled to finally introduce my daughter Katie Mireya-Chen!    Flights are booked for March 6th to Beijing and then on to Nanchang where we will finally come face to face…and what a face!!!   She will be 14 months by the time we arrive but this photo is from back in August.

Here is a description from her translated documents…”

“She has a lively and active personality.  She loves to listen to music, loves to play toys, loves to     talk, loves to laugh and is gregarious, agile, energetic, relatively extrovert but sometimes  relatively stubborn.” (she’ll fit right in 😉

It was frustrating not to be able to post this last month when I actually got the call but I finally worked out the technical problems and hope I can get the hang of blogging so friends and family can follow us on this incredible journey!

Congratulations!!! Katie is absolutely beautiful! What a sweetie your baby girl is!

I’m not sure if you and I have met or not? I’m also an Open Arms family and a single gal. I adopted my amazing DD in Nov/09.

    So, so happy for you!

      Thanks Catherine,
Yes we did have dinner at Mandarin, oh so long ago!! Are you the person at dinner who brought us all gifts? I can’t remember now but sure enough, i have kept the goodies and they will be perfect (onsie is just the right size!). So glad all has gone so well for you and that you finally got your daughter in 2009!
      All the best,
      Risa

Your daughter is beautiful! My eleven year old Sophia Danielle Tongwei is also from Nanchang, adopted at age 4. I found that Nanchang takes especially good care of their children, and that the information I was given by the orphanage and officials in Nanchang was truthful, extensive and complete. My experience adopting there was so much better, easier and reassuring than my other two adoptions from different SWIs. Many, many congratulations to you on FINALLY getting the child of your dreams!

Thank you so much Marie…so good to hear that you’re experience was so wonderful and that Nanchang takes such good care of their children. I feel super lucky all the way around but it sure is reassuring to hear 🙂 Congrats on all of your children!

Congratulations! We just adopted twin girls from the Fengcheng Orphanage in August. They were through the special needs program. If you want to see pictures of them or read about our travel, you can visit our website at http://www.babyjellybeans.com and search Lily or Lucy Breaux. I love to see babies from the same orphanage and yours is adorable!

Congratulations Risajw! Your sweet baby girl is wonderful! What a sweetie she is!

I too am an Open Arms mom and am not sure if you and I may have met in the past. Possibly at a dinner at the Mandarin years ago? So happy for you!

Next month your sweet DD will be in your arms. Your life will change in the most wonderful of ways!

Hello and congratualtions! We have been home from China with our daughter who is also from Nanchang for 2 years now, she was 6 months old at referral time. We had a great time exploring the city. The babies are all so well taken care of there. She is a true gift to us and we are thankful everyday when we see that beautiful face It also took us 6 years to get to that day but I will tell you as many probably already have, that once she is put in your arms, every day of waiting and hoping is gone. Congratulations again and enjoy this time, it is a wonderful experience. Take care and good luck.
